Phase 2 Bamboo 4 Africa Hard Skills and Small Building Carpentry Training


Module 1: 21 Jan to 01 Feb 2025

Training program on bamboo cultivation and processing covers: Introduction, benefits, history, and uses of bamboo Growing cycles, identification, management of bamboo clumps for optimal pole growth (straightness) and harvesting techniques; Construction of Hyperboloid tower structure to treat bamboo affordably; Biochar workshop including preparation, burning, and inoculation; and, Design concepts for bamboo buildings (and preparing foundations for Module 2 Building program). Other activities include cultural activities, cooking workshop, and design competition results announcement.

Module 2 - Feb 04 - 15th, 2025

The training covers small building carpentry skills, focusing on bamboo usage, joint techniques, design principles, gazebo construction, flooring, roofing, stairs and railings. It also includes empowering women through bamboo utilization in traditional home design.
